This herb is beyond its freshness date.  Although it is still safe to use, as it has been stored in vacuum-sealed glass jars, its potency has diminished.  Therefore, we are selling it off at our cost in an effort to rotate to fresher stock.

Kamala's Description:  This is the real deal.  Do not confuse this with other types of Solomon's Seal with different species names.  Polygonatum biflora is Giant Solomon's Seal.  This is the American version of the plant and is purported to have similar properties.  The Solomon's Seal we carry is the one mentioned in Scott Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs.  He gives it correspondences of feminine, Saturn, and water.  I (Karl) like the smell of it burning, but Kamala is not a fan.
Solomon's Seal is a relative of the Lily-of-the-Valley and is native to northern Europe and Siberia.  The common name possibly derives from the circular scars on the roots, which resemble a stamped seal, or it could be due to the plant's ancient use as a seal for infected wounds and broken bones.  Solomon's Seal is said to be effective as an astringent, especially as a treatment for diarrhea, dysentery and general stomach and intestinal problems. Solomon's Seal was also used in cosmetics as a facial toner. In some circles, Solomon's Seal Root was believed to be an aphrodisiac, and it was used in many love potions. Today, the herb is most often used in cases of female complaints, such as menorrhagia and leukorrhea.  Solomon's Seal also shares similar therapeutic properties with Comfrey.  It, too, promotes healthy tissue repair and contains allantoin, which supports bone and cartilage health.  In addition, the versatile root supports upper respiratory health and promotes healthy skin.
According to 1001 Arabian Nights, King Solomon used this to seal a jinn in a bottle.
