Oils Plants produce many different useful oils. Basically, plant oils are divided into two forms: fatty oils and volatile oils. Fatty oils are most commonly encountered during cooking. These include olive oil and Crisco. As you can see, these fatty oils can be liquid or solid at room temperature. In liquid form, these oils are referred to as carrier oils. In solid form, they are often called shortening or butter, as with cocoa butter. Volatile oils are the scent molecules of the plant. These are more commonly referred to as essential oils and can also be liquid or solid at room temperature. Solid essential oils are usually diluted with a solvent, like monopropylene glycol, before being sold to the public. You also need to be aware of the term fragrance oil. A fragrance oil may contain carrier and/or essential oils, but in our experience, a fragrance oil is a synthetic reconstruction of a scent.Below you will find the categories of oils available through Kamala's Own™.
