Additional Information:  Ostara is probably the most direct borrowing of pagan holidays in the Christian world, where it is known as Easter. Easter, Eostre, and Ostara are all language mutations of the same goddess, Ostara being Germanic and Eostre being Anglo-Saxon. Eostre was said to be a playful goddess whose reign began in spring. Ostara had a magical rabbit companion. The two of them hid eggs in the fields to bring new life to the dying vegetation.
